Municipal Service Commission was first formed under the Calcutta Municipal Corporation Act 1980, by a notification of the State Government on 22.03.1984. Its predecessor however, was the Calcutta Municipal Service Commission which came into being with effect from January, 1954. "Appointment to a Category A or a Category B post shall be made on the recommendation of the Municipal Service Commission".

Candidate apply for vacancy should be complete graduate from commerce discipline and have knowledge of Computer in Accounting. Age limit for the post, Candidate from the Unreserved category should from 18 to 40 years. Candidate comes under OBC category from 18 to 43 years and for SC/ST/PWD candidate should from 18 to 45 years.
Unreserved and other backward class category candidates need to pay RS.150 as application fee + Rs.50 as processing charges. Totally they want to pay RS.200. SC/ST/PWD category candidates need not to pay application fee, they can pay just Rs. 50 for processing charge. Interested Candidate can apply online through website www.mscwb.org.
