GATE 2015


GATE 2015- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is one of the prestigious competitive examination in India. This exam conducted jointly venture by Indian Institute of  Science (IISc), Bangalore and seven Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) on behalf of on National Coordination Board (NCB)-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. Every year one of the IIT take the responsibility and conduct the GATE exam. last year Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur took the responsibility for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2014. This year Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur organising the GATE 2015.

Official notification of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2015 released on the second week of August 2014 by the IIT Kanpur. Last time IIT Kharagpur successfully conducted the GATE 2014 in between the last week of January 2014 to second week of February 2014. Candidate who like to apply for the GATE 2015 can apply through the online on the official website of IIT Kanpur http://gate.iitk.ac.in/GATE2015/

Eligibility:
  1. Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Pharmacy (Post- Diploma / Post-B.Sc. / 4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final year of such programs.
  2. Candidates in the final year of the Four-year Bachelor’s degree program in Science (B.S.) (Post-Diploma / 4 year after 10+2).
  3. Master’s degree holders in any branch of Science / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final year of such programs.
  4. Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master’s degree program (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering / Technology
  5. Candidates in the fourth or higher year of Five- year Integrated Master’s degree program or Dual Degree program in Engineering / Technology.
  6. Candidates in the final year of Five-year integrated M.Sc. or Five year integrated B.S. M.S. program.
  7. Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE BY IE(I), AMICE(I) BY ICE(I)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.

How to apply

Candidate who are like to apply for the GATE 2015 must apply through Online only. Candidate log on to the official website and apply via GATE Online Application Processing system (GOPS)
Procedure

  1. Register first by providing your valid Email ID and a currently using mobile number along with a password
  2. The login Id will be mailed to the candidates
  3. Personal details should be entered
  4. Scanned photograph and signature as per specifications have to be uploaded.
  5. Application fee to be paid online or through Challan
  6. Download and print the online Application after submission for future reference

SC / ST / PD category Candidates: Rs 750
Women Candidates from all category: Rs 750

Exam Pattern of GATE 2015
  1. All the 22 papers will be online
  2. Candidates will be tested on their comprehension and application skills, recall as well as analytical abilities
  3. GATE 2015 Papers with codes AE, AG, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, IN, ME, MN, MT, PI, TF and XE, will carry 15% of the total marks for the Engineering Mathematics, 15% for the General Aptitude section and the remaining 70% percentage of the total marks for subject of the paper.
  4. GATE 2015 Papers with codes AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH and XL will also carry 15% of the total marks for the General Aptitude section but the remaining 85% of the total marks will be for the subject of the paper.
  5. GATE 2015 XE Paper will have a compulsory section in Engineering Mathematics and General Aptitude along with any two of XE sections B to G.
  6. GATE 2015 XL Paper Pattern will have a compulsory section in Section H in Chemistry and General Aptitude along with any two of XL sections I to M
  7. Candidates will have to answer Multiple Choice Questions and Numerical Questions.
  8. General Aptitude Questions are compulsory for all papers and will carry 15 marks questions
Note:
  • Numerical Questions will not be having negative marking
  • Negative marking will exist for GATE 2015 with a deduction of 1/3 marks for a wrong answer to a 1-mark multiple-choice question and 2/3 marks for every wrong answer to the 2 mark questions

IIT Kanpur extend the Last date to submit the Online application till 14th October 2014.

  5. GATE 2015 Examination: 31st January, 1st, 7th, 8th and 14th February, 2015 (Timings: Forenoon: 9.00 AM to 12.00 PM, Afternoon: 2.00 PM to 5.00 PM)

GATE 2015
GATE 2015 Scores will be valid for Three years from the date of announcement of the GATE Results. All the supporting documents have to be sent online, Hard copies will not be accepted. Payments have to be made online or through E-challan. Online payments included debit/ATM cards, credit cards or internet banking. Random Biometric verification will be done for candidates before the examination. Choice of a third city as secondary choice for appearing for the GATE 2015 Exam while filling the GATE 2015 application form.

GATE 2015 Counseling Process

  1. Candidates will have to apply to the individual institutes/universities as per the admission notification of each institute/university.
  2. Counselling will be on the basis of the candidate’s performance in GATE 2015 and academic performance (qualifying degree) in the ratio 7:3.
  3. Generally candidates who qualify in the life sciences papers (XE or XL), have to appear for an interview/written test) by the admitting institution. In such cases, the weightage for GATE scores is generally 70%. The minimum passing percentage of marks in the interview will be specified by the admitting institution.
